On January 18, 2021, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus approved the updated terms of reference for the maintenance, improvement and development of inland waterways of the Republic of Belarus for 2021.
According to paragraph 14 of the Instruction on the Procedure for Performing Track Work and Maintenance of Navigable Hydraulic Structures on the Inland Waterways of the Republic of Belarus, the technical specification establishes the category of navigation equipment, its validity period, guaranteed dimensions of ship passages, as well as the working hours of navigable hydraulic structures.
The terms of reference for 2021 provide the service of 2,112.2 km of waterways, including rivers: the Dnieper – 530,1 km, the river Berezina – 308,5 km, river Sozh – 279.5 km, the river Neman – 92 km, the river Mukhavets – 60,99 km of the Dnieper-bug canal – 93,01 km, river Pina – 41,6 km, the upper area of the Pripyat river is 7 km from the Pripyat river 455,9 km, Mikashevichskiy channel – 7 km, the river Goryn – 13.5 km, the Western Dvina river – the 196.7 km Turov Zaton is 1.5 km from Augustow canal – 21.2 km, the river Svisloch – 3.7 km away. Of these, 1,152. 5 km with guaranteed track dimensions. The opening and closing dates of navigation are set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus. At underwater crossings and approaches to waterworks, a guaranteed depth of 190 cm and a width of 20 m is established. The guaranteed dimensions of the track are set for the navigation period of 2021 and are subject to clarification during the year.
This technical specification is the basis for the development of a track work plan, which is prepared by the State Water Transport Administration.
During the year, track work and maintenance of navigable hydraulic structures will be carried out by republican unitary enterprises of inland waterways based on the results of the state procurement procedure.
