The President of the Russian Federation stressed the need to strengthen the position of the Russian Federation as a leading power and the development of the Arctic zone. Therefore, given that the transport system plays a leading role in this process, as well as the importance of St. Petersburg in the design and construction of the fleet for the Arctic, the topics of Arctic shipbuilding and shipping were selected as one of the priorities of the exhibition and business program of NEVA 2021.
“This year, the development of the Northern Sea Route has become an important part of the exposition and business program of the NEVA 2021 exhibition, which is due to the growing attention to the prospects of the Arctic,” noted Vyacheslav Vladimirovich Ruksha, Deputy Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom – Director of the Northern Sea Route Directorate.
On September 22, a strategic session “International, technical and scientific cooperation to ensure sustainable shipping and transit development in the Arctic” was held at the site of the largest exhibition “NEVA 2021”. The session was held in two parts: in the first, experts discussed the current needs in providing Arctic projects with ships and proposals of the shipbuilding industry for their solution, and in the second, a dialogue was launched on the development of shipping along the Northern Sea Route.
It should be noted that among the speakers and listeners were the leading shipbuilding enterprises of Russia and foreign countries, shipping companies and key industrial companies in the Arctic, who gathered to discuss the development of the industry.
